Spring Awakening 20-22 March 2020 Retreat

with Elina Müller Meyer

About the retreat

Join Elina for a weekend away from the pulse of the city, to create space to flourish and recharge. Breathe, stretch, lengthen, strengthen and recharge your batteries. Enjoy the silence and allow yourself to settle from the mind into the heart. Twists and inversions renew from within, backbends awaken the happy hormones, forward bends let us dive deeper. Make yourself or a loved one a gift with this unique opportunity of resetting.
In each lesson you will practice asana (physical exercises), pranayama (breathing exercises), short meditations and deep relaxation. The yoga program is suitable for all levels. All postures and sequences are taught step by step. All participants will be supported, encouraged and challenged according to their level and practical experience. We practice Anusara Yoga, which combines a well-founded, physical Hatha-Yoga practice with a life-affirming philosophy. Anusara means as much as: flowing with grace, being in the flow of life or just simply following your heart. It is an innovative, exciting Hatha Yoga style that can be spiritually inspiring and also therapeutically effective on a physical level. It is based on the “universal principles of alignment”. These are five basic principles that make optimal use of the body’s biomechanics. In other words: our anatomy gets precisely aligned, the body naturally strengthened, and the asana practice becomes light and flowing. Benefits involve not only our bones and muscles, but also our nervous-, hormonal- and immune systems are affected and therefore our mood as well.
Yin Yoga is a wonderful addition to a dynamic and vital yoga practice. In Yin Yoga we move slow, almost meditatively. We stay in the asanas (postures), “passive” for a few minutes to produce a safe and positive stimulation on the deep layers of the connective tissue (fascia). Energetically, Yin Yoga opens up the body’s meridian system, which improves the body’s energy flow and supports the emotional balance as well.

Elina Müller Meyer:

I am a certified yoga teacher, professional dancer and hold a qualification in cranio-sacral therapy. I took my first steps as a baby in a place as exotic as Bombay and have carried on to be well traveled. I studied at the Hamburg City Opera Ballett school and in the  Nethterlands at the Rotterdamse Dans Academie. I took my first yoga teacher training in 1998 in the Sivananda  Ashram in Kerala and since then, my mat has accompanied me into every hotel room my dancing career brought me to. Over the  years I took trainings with various famous teachers, broadening my experience in several yoga styles until I became an  Anusara Inspired teacher in 2010.

My teaching is playful with a dedicated passion for details and  alignment. I make the balance between breathing, body, soul and  heart my topmost priority. The discipline and grace of the dancer, the mindfulness of  the craniosacral therapist blend with humor and universal Anusara alignment principles – my teaching becomes a colorful experience.
